| It’s been a while since our last update, must be getting lazy! But, now that the UK is in post election delight (!!) its time for a short entry on our not so recent trip to the Snowy Mountains. I must admit to taking great delight in seeing Mr Blair being delivered a very bloody nose purely for his stance on Iraq and also on seeing the attached photo the day after the election, but that's another story... ...More... | ||||||

| We’re sitting on our balcony at the Fatumaru Lodge watching an afternoon shower make its way across the bay. This herald of an early rainy season seems as good a reason as any to stay in, enjoy the view and write another yearaway entry. Vanuatu’s motto, “Another time, another pace,” is a fabulous maxim to attach to this chain of 83 islands covering 13,000 sq km. When you arrive from Sydney there is only a one hour time difference, but you very quickly come to realise that life is being conducted at a very different pace altogether. ...More... | ||||||

| Sometimes on this trip, as I have said before, we have felt like we were starring in Japanese Endurance, at others we have felt like we’d been transplanted into a scene out of Crocodile Dundee. Yesterday was one of those days. We got up in the morning and headed out to Wangi Falls in Litchfield National Park. The park notes said that there was a relatively easy walk to the top of the escarpment overlooking the falls so we decided a nice stroll might be just what our aching bodies needed. | We're sitting here by the pool in 32 degree heat, under the palm trees, enjoying the last couple of days of our holiday up here in the Top End of Australia. The rest by the pool is a well-deserved one because although we've had a fantastic holiday so far it has, at times, felt more like we were starring in the Japanese Endurance programme that used to feature on Clive James' show, as opposed to being on a relaxing trip away! | Uluru – more commonly known as Ayers Rock – was our destination for Sue’s 30th birthday trip. Neither of us really knew what to expect. I mean, was it going to be one of those places that people talk of but leaves you wondering what all the hype is about? Or was it going to have gained this reputation because it really is something else? | As soon as we arrived on Kangaroo Island we sensed the remoteness of Australia’s third largest island. Just 45 minutes by ferry from the South Australian coast and the grocery store had sold out of potatoes and wouldn’t have their next delivery until next week! We headed straight to our lighthouse keeper’s cottage on the easternmost tip of the island – Cape Willoughby. | We were awoken just before 1am on Monday by our bed shaking violently. This was accompanied by a loud moaning sound. Half awake and half asleep Sue started grumbling about how the people in the room next door should keep their love-making down and every now and then threatened to call reception to complain. | When we first started out from our apartment that Saturday morning everything seemed to be against us. We were both painfully hungover, our flight to Melbourne was delayed, we missed our connecting flight to Launceston and ended up in Hobart late at night with our hire car waiting for us in Launceston and no hotel booking. Luckily for us, everyone was extremely flexible and all was sorted, but it really made us wonder what would’ve happened if we’d been in UK. No doubt we would’ve lost deposits and ended up without a hire car at best. ...More... | ||||||

| It’s been ages – we know! But, since we’ve been in Sydney we’ve been just too busy settling in to write a yearaway entry. Let’s start from the beginning. As some of you may recall our last entry mentioned the fact that our itchy feet were nowhere near cured. Well, we’d been back in London just seven weeks and could see the British Winter coming on, so it didn’t take too much convincing to hop on a plane to warmer climes when Nathan was offered a job down under!
